Heli.Coffee began life in mid 2024 as an idea of Ollie's, who then swiftly got fellow coffee drinker and Engineer, Guy, onboard. Having both started successful social media pages related to their jobs, Ollie and Guy noticed the top 3 things that aircrew, engineers and enthusiasts had an intrest in: Cars, Watches and Coffee. Merging the aircraft they work on with a product they enjoy was a natural progression, and Heli.Coffee was born.
Ollie’s interest in aviation started when, at 7 years old, he was taken for a flight in a Boeing Stearman Bi-plane, owned by his uncle.
He studied Aircraft engineering for 4 years at Shoreham airport, before joining a civilian company, maintaining the Grob 115Es of 727 Naval Air Squadron in 2006. His time with the company also saw him have a 2 year stint at RAF Benson, on their Grob Fleet.
In 2009, Ollie joined the Zonal Team carrying out depth Maintenance on RAF Seakings, based at RNAS Yeovilton once again. Ollie soon joined the Forward Support Team, carrying out big jobs such as Gearbox and engine changes around all RAF SAR Bases, including the aircraft in the Falklands.
Ollie also assisted in maintenance on the Royal Naval Seaking Commandos at weekends, ensuring the Squadrons had suitable aircraft to support the fight in Afghanistan.
Following the retirement of the majority of British Seakings in 2016, Ollie transferred onto the Wildcat Fleet, where he continued his role in the forward support capacity, carrying out jobs for every British Wildcat Squadron, both Army and Navy.
Ollie then became a contractor, moving to primarily civilian aircraft, such as the Embraer E135/145 family, and the Airbus A320 family, while also completing sheet metal tasks on the RAF Chinook Fleet.
During Covid, Ollie began working for Leonardo as a Schedule Maintenance Engineer on the EH101, with both British, and international customers.
Since 2021, Ollie has been working primarily for Historic Helicopters, using his extensive knowledge from his Seaking Days, along with utilising his wealth of generic aircraft maintenance knowledge to assist in keeping the rest of the fleet, including Whirlwind, Wessex and Lynx, flying. His time has also been spent coaching budding engineers into the field of aircraft maintenance, and has been credited by Guy as a key figure in the foundations of Guy's career.
From a very early age, Guy knew he wanted to work with aircraft. One of his earliest memories is from RNAS Yeovilton Airday, watching the Commando Assault Finale, consisting of Seaking and Lynx helicopters, two aircraft Guy would be lucky enough to work on in future.
From then on, Guy geared his education towards aircraft, even taking French as a GCSE in the hope of someday working for Airbus.
Following completion of a college course in Aeronautical Engineering, Guy undertook work experience at Historic Helicopters, where he met Ollie, and would go on to be offered a full time job.
Guy worked under Ollie on multiple marks of Seaking, Wessex, Lynx, Whirlwind, Wasp, Scout and S-76, before joining a civilian company at RNAS Yeovilton, providing support for Army and Navy Wildcat Aircraft and Squadrons, as well as the occasional tasking on Merlin HC.4 aircraft.
